NUWSS tea towel – The National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies

The union was founded in 1897 as a union of the blossoming regional women’s suffrage societies which believed that the women’s vote should be won by peaceful means such as lobbying MPs in Parliament. It was led by Millicent Fawcett and the union eventually evolved into the Fawcett Society which is still a force in campaigning for women’s rights today
