Cradley Heath Chainmakers Badge Postcard
This badge was issued to Ben Smith around 1910 when President of the Chainmakers & Strikers Association in Cradley Heath in the Black Country. The badge marked the historic women chainmakers’ strike of 1910 when Mary MacArthur of the National Federation of Women Workers organised the women chainmakers of Cradley Heath (“The White Slaves of England” as they were called at the time) and secured the right to a minimum wage for the first time.
